Election Matters 2026

The Elections Research Center and the State Democracy Research Initiative at UW-Madison invite you to join us for “Year in Review: Democracy Litigation in SCOTUS and the States” on Wednesday, July 8 from 3:00-4:15pm Central Time, with a reception to follow. This event is part of our 2026 Election Matters series, sponsored by Stafford Rosenbaum LLP. This event will take place in the Madison Public Library Community Room, with the option to attend virtually. The panel is approved for 1.5 WI CLE credits.

The panel will review major cases from the past year, highlighting significant democracy-related decisions at both the state and federal levels. Our panelists will include Amit Agarwal (Special Counsel, Protect Democracy), Christina Bull Arndt (Chief Counsel for Special Litigation, California Department of Justice), Julie Murray (Co-Director of the ACLU State Supreme Court Initiative), and Don Verrilli (Former Solicitor General of the US). This panel will be moderated by Rob Yablon (University of Wisconsin Law School).

This event will take place on Friday, March 6, from 3:00-4:15pm Central Time. You can attend this panel in-person in the University of Wisconsin Law School, Lubar Commons or virtually over Zoom. This panel is approved for 1.5 Wisconsin CLE credits.

Our expert panel will discuss the impacts of the rise of partisan gerrymandering and what the redistricting efforts could mean for the midterm elections. The panel will feature Michael Li (Brennan Center for Justice), Sara Sadhwani (Pomona College), Nicholas Stephanopoulos (Harvard Law School), and will be moderated by the co-director of the State Democracy Research Initiative Robert Yablon.
